from today ( re yesterday):

30 knots and 2 meter sails...
Day one (sunday) was a phenominal day of racing!!!  About 10 races were run like clockwork by our fantastic race commitee of Michael and Mike Moody along with John Endean of Great Britain.  20 - 30 mph winds with higher gusts, and some occasional 30 seconds lulls to 15 mph.

Santi Oliver (heavyweight performance) dominated the day with Sean Fidler (lightweight performance) and staying close, Scott Young making a very strong showing in a number of races.

Lead changes were CONSTANT.  Fidler would often lead early with better starts but Oliver's speed with the 2m sail was outstanding.  I'm not sure what the weight spread was (Santi is 205 and Sean is 170) or what but Santi was awesome today and won 6 of 10 races with Sean winning 4.

Russel Whitehouse of Australia had an accident after racing in some extreme wind later in the afternoon.  It was a huge crash, I don't have alot of details on what caused the crash.  It may have been a broken axle.  He had a helmet on but did suffer a concusion and some memory loss. He was taken to the hospital and kept overnight for observation.  Mike Moody and Fran went to see him last night and he has a major headache but is OK.  Thank gosh for that.

I will follow up tonight with results and I video taped 2 races with on board cameras.  One race Santi passed while going 50 mph+ around the final leeward mark.  Hopefully they will turn out well when I upload them to YouTube this evening.
